I manage to exercise, study and work on schedule everyday of the week and I do it all by myself. To me this has become a simple routine which I have no problem doing daily, I have even come to enjoy it. However this did not all come easy to me, there was a time when I had big problems motivating myself and I could not even concentrate on the simplest of tasks. However, through research, trial and error and help from friends I came up with some tips to seriously motivate those who cannot concentrate.
Firstly I think that changing where you work every once in awhile really can improve your concentration as well as motivation. I used to study in the same cramped room day in and day out, after a few hours I would get sick of it and my concentration would be completely broken. A friend suggested to me that when this happens you should go to a caf or to the park, after I made the change in environment my focus and motivation to work all came back in one big jolt. I think this is one of the most important things I have ever learned, trust me it works.
My second tip- If you are having problems motivating yourself to get started why not listen to some music which inspires you. For some people this may be pop, for others classic, I I like metal and it really motivates me to get going and start working. For those who aren’t into music a inspirational video can also do the trick. Go to Youtube and find something you like, I like UFC training videos or Rocky training montages.
The third thing which I recommend people to go out and do is to time themselves. Get a stopwatch and time yourself to focus on the work at hand for an hour straight, during this hour do nothing else. I find that using this method I can really improve my efficiency and concentration. Another great tip I learned over the years.
My fourth tip- Get rid of distractions. Find out what your main distraction is (probably TV or the Internet) and get away from it. This is often easier said than done though, because today so much is done on the internet. I like to open up the internet pages which I will need and then turn off the internet without turning off the computer, it keeps me in line.
These tips will work anywhere, even in the kitchen when you are doing a boring job like cleaning an over the sink dish drainer or some dirty stainless steel dish drainer.
